About onrfan13

Over the years I have been fortunate with my employment to be able to live and see many different areas of this great country of ours. The geography that Canada offers lends its self to some great vantage points. There are some I have yet to visit and god willing will do so and hopefully catch the odd train there. As I go through my many pictures over the years will upload the best ones so that others may enjoy.

A pair of SD40-2W provide the power for what will be a military train move to Coteau Junction Quebec. The loaded train was then picked up and sent to Wainwright Alberta. These units could of used a wash as they were full of road grime.

SD40-2 CP 5847 with a pair of SD40-2s in tow, drag the set offs for OCR up the grade to the Jean Avenue Crossing. Once clear of the interchange lead switch, the conductor let gravity and the use of hand brakes do the work.

A nice change from parade of SD40-2s and AC4400s, SD9043MAC 9121 leads the daily intermodal to Smiths Falls where a CP crew will take it to Montreal. Unfortunately the tracks are no more in the Ottawa valley. The line from North Bay now ends at Mattawa.

A old shot of the once was a railroad town serviced by CP/OVR and CN/OCR. Now all that is left are trails and memories. This picture is of the OCR Ottawa-Pembroke Turn which just finished working the Smurfit-MBI plant. Today's work included a single 50ft boxcar set off and 1 picked up. The track radius was very tight and the flange squeal was quite the sound.

This photo was taken when the crane and the idler flatcar were parked along the access road. This piece of equipment is used by the museum staff moving large equipment when the need arises.

Ottawa Central was testing out this unit and it is working the CP interchange pulling loads out and about to start its journey back to Ottawa. They did not end up purchasing this unit and continued to use the RS-18u as their main power.

On my way home in Ontario at the time,found this well preserved piece of railway history just off the Crowsnest Highway in Midway BC. CPR used to run through here but with the development of the highway system to keep up with the number of cars, the line was not profitable. Like many old lines have fond themselves turned into trails.

This was quite the surprise at the end of a long successful day spent in the yard catching action. The long westbound 186 car manifest had C-449W 2523 leading followed by SD70I 5616,SD75I 5740,GP38-2 4727,SD50F 5423 and GP40-2W 9423.
